Arrest Made in Robbery of TD Bank

An arrest has been made in connection with last evenings robbery of the TD Bank located at 10 Mule Road.  Within hours of posting surveillance images on social media and with online news outlets the tips started pouring in.  In all, 145,000 people viewed the Toms River Police Department Facebook page, prompting a flood of valuable information.  Shortly after the postings a positive identification was made and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Angelo Grenci, 39, of Liberta Drive in Berkley Township New Jersey.

An overnight manhunt ensued which culminated in his capture at the Friendly’s restaurant 981 Route 37 West. A tipster reported that Grenci would be at the restaurant at 9 am this morning.  Officers Brett Hansen, Ryan Parente, and Michael Gallipolli were the first to arrive on the scene. They immediately located Grenci seated alone in a booth.  He was in possession of a large knife and attempted to use a false identity. He was taken into custody without incident.

He is being held on $110,000 bail for the bank robbery.  Additional charges were lodged for Possession of a weapon and the use of the false name.

Bank Robbery

On November 9-2015 at 4:40 pm Officer Michael Macdonald and other police units responded to the TD Bank located at 10 Mule Road in reference to a robbery.  A white male entered the bank wearing a black pea coat and sunglasses.  He filled out a bank slip at the reception counter and then presented it to the teller.  The note demanded money.  He received an undetermined amount of cash and then fled the scene in a westerly direction on foot.

Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Crime Scene Investigative Unit, Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the he Federal Bureau of Investigation are assisting the Toms River Criminal Investigation Division.

Promotion and New Appointees

On September 22, 2015, at a general council meeting, Chief Mitchell Little joined Mayor Thomas Kelaher and the entire town council in the promotion of Stephen Eubanks to the rank of Sergeant.  Eubanks has been a member of the police department since 2001.  Prior to that he served in the United States Navy from 1988 to 1995 and was employed as a police officer in Greensboro North Carolina from 1996 to 1999.

During his employment with Toms River Eubanks has served in the Emergency Services Unit as well as being a certified Emergency Medical Technician.  Recently he was assigned to the K-9 unit as a dog handler for his partner Boris.

Additionally; five new officers were appointed to replace five recent retirees.  They are Probationary Officers, Brett Hansen of Brick, Kyle Lamar of Beachwood, Michael Kimble of Howell, Andrew Gannon of Toms River, and John Minor of Bayville.

Toms River Emergency Services donates to Ocean of Love Billboard Radiothon

Radio station 105.7 The Hawk, will be having its annual Billboard Radiothon fundraiser for Ocean of Love October 19- 23, 2015 at the Target & Lowes Shopping center.  On Thursday, October 22, members of Toms River Police Department will be there with their Dunk Tank between 2 pm and 8 pm accepting donations for chances of dunking an officer.  Chief of Police, Mitchell Little, will be present and will take a turn on the platform of the dunk tank from 4 pm to 5pm.

Toms River Fire Departments and Toms River Emergency Medical Services will converge on the billboard at 8:00 pm to make donations.  Last year the donation was escorted by a procession of Fire Apparatus with lights flashing and sirens sounding.  One of the department’s ladder trucks raised their ladder and a firefighter climbed the ladder to hand the donation over to the DJ atop the Billboard.  The donation will be made in a similar fashion this year.

Police Activity Notification

The Toms River Police Department is conducting an area search for a wanted suspect that fled a vehicle during a drug investigation.  The suspect is believed to be Jeffrey Livingston, 22, of Edinburgh Lane in Manchester. He ran from the offices into a nearby wood area near the corner of Whittier Avenue and Washington Street after jumping out of a vehicle that he was a passenger in.

While units were searching for the suspect a gun threat was called into the ocean county mall in an attempt to divert the officer’s search efforts.  It is believed that Livingston placed that call from his cell phone.

He is a black male wearing a black tee shirt and black shorts.  He is 6’ 4”  180 lbs.

The police Department is being assisted by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit and the New Jersey State Police Aviation unit.
