Police reports are obtained through the Records Division of the Police Department. Due to privacy rights, the Records Division does not release information regarding police reports over the telephone. A copy of a report may be obtained in person and upon proof of proper identification.
Police reports generated and prepared by patrol officers are subjected to a review and approval process. This process may delay the release of the report. We recommend allowing 3 business days before attempting to retrieve a report in person. A copy of a report may also be obtained via mail, upon receipt of a written request, accompanied with a $5.00 fee, payable to “Toms River Township” and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
