We are proud to announce the promotions of six officers, held during the Council meeting on January 28, 2014. Mayor Thomas Kelaher swore in the officers. Listed by rank, they are Jeffrey Lenox (Captain), Christopher Dudzik (Lieutenant), Stephen Russell (Sergeant), Steven Bucci (Detective), and Duncan MacRae (Detective). These officers are moving up in the ranks due to the recent retirement of Chief Michael Mastronardy and the promotion of Mitchell Little on January 1, 2014 to the position of Chief of police.

Toms River Police need your help in identifying two bank robbers

Toms River Police are still searching for the men that robbed two banks on the same day within one and a half hours of each other. It is still unknown if the two incidents are related. The Police Dept. has released surveillance photos of the suspects from both robberies. If anyone has information on these men, please contact Detective Randy Petrick at 732-349-0150 extension 1235. All information will be kept confidential.

Bank Robbery

Suspect in the TD Bank robbery is a black male in his late 20's to early 30's and wearing a green jacket with his hood up--wool hat-sunglasses. On Friday January 24, 2014 at 4:36 PM Police officers responded to TD Bank, #10 Mule Road for a Bank Robbery. Male gave a note to the teller demanding money and then fled on foot in an unknown direction. There are unknown proceeds.

Suspect in the Santander bank robbery is a white male in his late 20's to early 30's. While detectives were at the scene of the TD Bank robbery there was a robbery at a second bank. Santander bank --190 Route 37 East. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

A number of scholarships will be awarded to the pool of applicants from the 4 local High Schools.

Description for eligibility: Any senior who is planning to attend a college or university majoring in law enforcement. ( whose goal is to become a police officer)
