EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The current ordinance requires candidates to possess a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
- The candidate must possess a minimum of 64 college credits combined with two (2) full years of military experience or full time regular police experience.
AGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates must be between the ages of 18 & 34, and must be capable of performing all of the duties of a Toms River Police Officer.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Background Investigation
- Urine Testing/Drug Screen
- Psychiatric & Psychological Evaluation
- Medical & Treadmill Stress Test
- Approval of the Township Committee
- Completion of the Police Academy or Possession of a Current and Valid PTC
- Completion of a One Year Probationary Period
The Toms River Police Department has begun the 2009 selection process for the position of Probationary Police Officer. The department will conduct the first phase of the process, the written test, on the 19th of September 2009. 517 applicants are scheduled to participate in the first phase.
The department will begin accepting applications for the next, 2012, selection process in May of 2012.
