Sergeant Matthew Broderick is a lifelong New Jersey resident and a 10-year veteran of the Toms River Police Department. Born and raised in Hazlet, he graduated from Raritan High School in 2004. In 2008 Sergeant Broderick graduated from Caldwell University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology.

Prior to being promoted, Sergeant Broderick served the department in various capacities. Sergeant Broderick was a field training officer, department physical training instructor, a member of the department’s Emergency Services Unit and a canine handler. Sergeant Broderick and his partner, K9 Rooney, are one of the first two K9 teams in the history of the police department to be trained in detecting explosives. Sergeant Broderick and K9 Rooney are currently a part of the Detect and Render Safe Task Force with the New Jersey State Police and New Jersey Department of Homeland Security.

Although an accomplished police officer, Sergeant Broderick is most proud of his family. He is married to his lovely wife Corina and is the proud father of two great boys, Joseph (4) and Nicholas (3). Without their love and support, he would not be where he is today. Sergeant Broderick and his family currently reside in Toms River Township

Congratulations on your promotion Sergeant Broderick!
