We cannot thank the entire Toms River Regional Schools community enough for their support of our Police Department and the Toms River PBA 137 Vest Fund! Seeing all of the awesome photos of the children and staff who dressed in blue in support of us was beyond heartwarming! Thank you to all of the staff who made a donation to our vest fund to help subsidize the cost of our officers’ bullet proof vests. Each vest is about $1200.00 and needs to be replaced every 5 years when they expire. This year was the first year Toms River Regional Schools, as a whole, participated in our Vest-A-Cop fundraising event. It was their generosity that raised $5057.00 for our vest fund! When we asked Mr. Healy about purchasing a vest we never expected this! “Under the leadership of Chief Mitch Little, Toms River Police Department provides an invaluable service to our school community,” said Superintendent David Healy. “Their Vest-A-Cop campaign provided a way for our district to honor not just TRPD, but the departments of Beachwood, Pine Beach, and South Toms River as well, which our students and staff were clearly thrilled to do by wearing blue during our district-wide ‘True Blue Monday.’ As is typical, our teachers and staff rose to the occasion from a fundraising standpoint, and we are proud and honored to contribute more than $5,000 to TRPD’s Vest-A-Cop effort. We hope this contribution serves to further protect those brave men and women who protect us each and every day.” Thank you to everyone in the Toms River Regional Schools community!
