On the morning of February 15, 2023, multiple police and fire units responded to 1822 Merrimac Drive for a reported structure fire at the residence which appeared to have originated on the exterior of the house but was spreading because of high winds. Witnesses indicated a neighbor, Matthew Zanetti, was passing by on his way to work, stopped and utilized a fire extinguisher he retrieved from his vehicle to subdue the fire until fire personnel arrived. should be commended for his willingness to intervene despite the potential danger doing so presents. Had it not been for his quick actions damage sustained would have been much worse and could have affected more homes and citizens in the neighborhood.
