The Toms River Police Motorcycle Unit is comprised of six officers and one Sergeant. Due to their versatility, their primary responsibility is traffic enforcement and crash investigation. In addition, they participate in VIP motorcades, parades and as serve as traffic escorts at special events and funerals. The motorcycle fleet is comprised of 4 Harley-Davidson Police Electra Glide motorcycles.

Each officer assigned to the unit is required to attend and successfully pass an 80 hour motorcycle training program sponsored by Harley-Davidson and Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. The class is taught by Officer Ryan Rush who has attended several advanced classes and has received his Instructor Certification from Harley-Davidson and Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. In addition, officers assigned to the Motorcycle Unit must attend mandatory monthly training in order to maintain proficiency.

The Motorcycle Unit is part of the Special Operations Division and is supervised by Sergeant Michael Gallipoli at mgallipoli@trpolice.org .
