We received a boating call for assistance from a family off Shelter Cove Beach. Everyone on the boat was okay but there were two young girls aboard who were very upset. Officer John Mehl jumped in the water and walked out to the boat as it coasted toward shore. He comforted the two crying girls while waiting for our Marine 1 Unit with Lt. Michael Miller, Officer Thomas Herbst and Officer Graham Borg to arrive and assist them. Well done Officer Mehl!
