Patrolman DJ Unger left work for the final time yesterday and was honored by his fellow officers as he left the building. Officer Unger was proud to wear the TRPD uniform and was looking forward to a long and successful career. With only sixteen years on the job he faced the difficult decision to step away. Officer Unger sustained a serious injury while subduing a violent offender. His injuries left him with a permanent disability in which he could no longer perform the required duties. We will miss Officer Unger’s dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
He will always be part of The Toms River Police Department Family.
